T-dap Reminder: Parents Please Read

T-dap.jpg

Dear Parent/Guardian of SFUSD 6th Graders:

Your child should receive the booster shot for Tetanus, Diptheria and Pertussis (Tdap), generally given after the 7th birthday.

California law requires that all 7th graders show evidence of having had:

 Tdap vaccine* before the first day of 7th grade and

 2nd chicken pox vaccine* by the time they are 13 years old

 2nd MMR vaccine

If your child needs these vaccines, or any other vaccines, they can receive it from their health provider, community clinic or SFUSD School Health Center (call 415-242-2615 for an appointment).

Please submit evidence of these shots to your school’s Main Office or the Nursing Office, Attn: Nurse Yu, by 5/1/2018 so your child can start 7th grade on the first day of school and avoid the loss of school days. If the school does not have evidence of your child having Tdap by the beginning of 7th grade, your child may be excluded per state law.

If you have questions, please contact Nurse Yu or Administrator.

* requirement could also be satisfied with a valid medical exemption; Personal Belief Exemptions will no longer be valid

“ Attn: Nurse Yu”。

Inclusive Schools Week

Inclusive Schools Week 2017-18.jpg

Dear Aptos Community,

This is Inclusive Schools Week in San Francisco Unified School District and we are celebrating in a big way here at Aptos. Inclusive Schools Week celebrates the progress that schools have made in providing a supportive and quality education to an increasingly diverse student population, including students who are marginalized due to disability, gender, socio-economic status, cultural heritage, language preference and other factors. The week also provides an important opportunity for educators, students and parents to discuss what else needs to be done in order to ensure that schools continue to improve their ability to successfully educate all children, especially those with disabilities.

Aptos students will be talking about Inclusion during their advisory classes, making button’s at lunch time and participating in special activities during their PE classes. In addition, there will be a special display of inclusive books in the library all week, an Inclusive lunch on Thursday for Ms Wood’s class and the week will culminate with a students vs staff kickball game on Friday. Be sure to ask your student what they learned about inclusion this week!
